Internet & Digital Cameras - Let's Mom stay "Mom"

If they want to know "how something looks" or if they've got a rash and wonder what it is, who do your kids turn to? Mom, of course. Once they move away that would be hard to do you would think, but an internet connection and a digital camera are all that's needed. The first time this hit home with me was when Lex was in college. We were talking on IM and, fairly suddenly, her throat became sore. She said she'd be back in a minute and when she returned she put up a picture of an abscess in her throat! We were able to come up with a diagnosis and treatment on the spot pretty much. I won't show that pic, but do you know how hard it is to get good lighting in the throat? With your digital camera, just put the flash on, hold it up to a wide-open mouth and snap! If you have a digital camera, you also have an incredible diagnostic tool!

This week, the concern was eye glasses. Deciding on a pair of eye glasses is so difficult and you do want others opinions b/c it's absolutely hateful to spend the money for a pair and realize later that they've changed your appearance for the worse. Now Lex knows, they're "mom-approved" and she feels confident she made a good choice. Of course, they were already "hubby-approved" but it's nice to be sure!
