Homeschooling Work

For the past few weeks, Samantha and I have been doing a Poetry Unit, learning about the different voices in poetry (mask, apostrophe, lyrical, conversation, etc.)and about different forms of poetry. This week for a small hs Poetry Club, we wrote several haiku. Haiku comes from the observation of nature, such as our observing 11 deer out for a bit of sunshine here Sunday afternoon. The first haiku below is Sam's, then I just wrote two more to go with the other pix. (Haiku: 3 lines, 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables, usually w/a single focus. Japanese.)


Footprints crisscrossing fields
To whom do they all belong
Hooves of sly brown deer


Melted snow invites
To green patches of the lawn
Deer put on a show


Deer hear through walls and
windowpanes, stare and scare! Please
